Marketing to Raise Money for Your Healthcare Associations

You know your cause is good but how do you best raise awareness and money? The Ice–Bucket Challenge was incredibly successful for The ALS Association back in 2014, but that kind of viral social media sensation is tough to replicate.

We see your frustrations and understand that it can be difficult.

A good place to start is with a National Health Observance. Ever wonder how diseases get their special months? Contact the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, specifically, the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion to make it happen. Uncle Sam requires a promotional toolkit with accessible materials for health educators, public health program planners, and others who would want to promote your cause. This is a great opportunity to get those resources together if they are not already in place.

For example, January alone is National Blood Donor Month, National Glaucoma Awareness Month, Cervical Health Awareness Month, Thyroid Awareness Month and National Birth Defects Prevention Month. Each of these have respective organizations that sponsor them, not only this month, but all year, and help raise awareness and money for them. These association’s websites and social media platforms are good places to start to see how they are set up and the type of content they are providing.
