Fourth of July

Fourth of July Marketing Tips

One of the biggest holidays of the year is coming up! That’s right, Fourth of July is next week. As we continue to battle COVID-19, many things have changed – events have been cancelled, most people are still working at home and we are trying to find our new normal while still staying safe.

A small silver lining for companies that can be found from this is, this year, people are spending a great deal more time on their phones and computers looking at all digital platforms as opposed to outside at events, the pool, etc.

For this reason, take advantage of your digital marketing efforts now!!

Here are StrategyNest’s tips to making your digital marketing dazzle like a firework:

1. Email marketing is crucial right now:

  • Holiday marketing emails are the best! One study found that, particularly, Fourth of July marketing emails bring in 32 percent more revenue than standard marketing emails. They fill a customer’s timely need, they’re topical, they evoke positive feelings and nostalgia, and customers have grown to expect holidays will often be accompanied by sales. The Fourth of July is a particularly strong holiday for an email marketing campaign for stores with American customers.

2. Don’t stray away from the fun:

  • According to a 2015 survey, the Fourth of July is respondents number 3 favorite holiday! From a marketing perspective, this is considered an “easy holiday”, as it is a celebratory day with so much positivity associated with it. Take advantage of the fun that comes with the holiday – the flags and pride for America, the summer sun and pool times, the cookout parties with family and friends – and bring the joy to your customers through your digital marketing content topics and media. This is a fantastic way to show your great company culture!

3. Colors are important:

  • Making sure your content is branded is important to help customers associate your marketing with your company; however, also finding ways to incorporate the classic red, white and blue is patriotic and exciting!

4. Now is the time to push your sales:

  • The fourth of July is a time where people spend money! Did you know, according to NRF data, consumers spend more money on the Fourth of July than Christmas or Thanksgiving? The 4th is the 8th highest spending holiday over the course of the year.

5. Take advantage of it being a “lone” holiday:

  • The summer season is a primarily slow holiday period for those in the U.S. The Fourth of July is pretty much the lone holiday we’ve got in July or August. This means that your customers aren’t burned out on holiday promotions and should likely be receptive to a campaign centered around the 4th.

The best time to start your Fourth of July campaigns is… well, right now - late June. Studies show that 3 quarters of the marketing revenue from the Fourth of July Campaigns comes just one week before the holiday. This pleases both types of shoppers – consumers buying things for the 4th and consumers buying other things because it is part of a sale due to the holiday. Its perfect timing!

However, don’t fret if you haven’t mastered your perfect campaign yet with just 9 days to go! Unlike holidays like Christmas (where marketing plans are set months in advance and begin right after Thanksgiving), you won’t be late if you get going just a week out. The same study shows that consumers primarily only begin taking advantage of your Fourth of July marketing and sales a week out.

It’s time to get going! Call StrategyNest for help on your holiday digital marketing, and happy Fourth of July to all!
