Tips For Your Holiday Posts

As we enter into the holidays seasons, with Thanksgiving next week and December right around the corner, we know a lot of you will be preparing your holiday season digital marketing posts on your social media, blogs, etc.

While this may seem like an easy task, we actually often receive questions about what is the best way to go about this. There is often a fear of being all inclusive, or “politically correct”. There are also questions of how much to post and when.

Here are our tips for holiday posting:

  1. Plan It Out - Create your content calendar before hand and include key dates that you know you want to post for! Make sure to include big holidays celebrated like Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas, for example. Don’t forget major shopping days like Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

  2. B2C Companies - Be Ready! - If you are a B2C company, you need to be prepared for the biggest shopping days of the year. Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday could be HUGE for your sales. Do you have your plan? Will you be offering any specials or deals? If so, it is important to be posting about this in advance, as well as on the day to prepare your customers to shop!

  3. Make Sure Your Content Has Strong Visual Elements - One of the best things about the holidays are the beautiful sights like the gorgeous fall foliage of Thanksgiving and the glistening lights of Christmas. This makes it especially important to have content that stands out to your audience! This will often be done with eye catching photos or videos, but can be accomplished through your words.

  4. Share Your Story - This is the perfect time to connect with your audience. The holidays are about family and love and giving - never be afraid to open up about your brand and what is important to you. This is especially valued at this time of year.

  5. Create Content That Is Easily Shared - We know, easier said than done. If you create content that is easily shared and will want to be shared by your audience, this is the best time to get other’s eyes on it! This is often content that might not be SUPER specific to your company, but possibly more relatable to the masses. We can help you with this.

  6. Host Virtual Events - You can host events through Facebook live or IG live to connect in real time with your audience. With 2020 being as crazy as it has been, it is likely you haven’t been able to personally connect with your customers face to face much. With the downtime that the holidays can often bring, take advantage of your virtual event possibilities and host something fun!
